One rainy day in Istanbul

Nämä kaikki kuvat on muistaakseni otettu samana päivänä.
Tuosta Peras Palasista hieman tietoa. Legendaarisen hotellin rakennutti 1892 Idän pikajunan matkustajia varten Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits. Häikäisevä aula henkii menneen ajan salaperäistä tunnelmaa. Tuolla on asunut monet kuuluisuudet: Greta Garbo, Mata Hari, Atatürk... Agatha Christie kirjoitti suurimman osan romaanistaan Idän pikajunan arvoitus huoneessa 411.

Little pictures are taken by phone. We went to see this hotel Pera's Palace where Agatha Christie has wrote most of  The Murder on the orient express and where Mata Hari, Greta Garbo has been staying. There was tea time in most beautiful salon and the old pianist started to play, when he took little brake he came to visit us when he heard we spoke Finnish and he told us that he has been playing in Helsinki when our President Kekkonen was alive and the President taught him some Finnish song. He played the song for us and sang it in Finnish. President Kekkonen did like to drink alcohol so when we heart the song we laughed our ass off cause we understood the words unlike the other quests....it was quite naughty. It was so absurd situation cause the hotel is really expensive and really sophisticate not really the right place for a songs like that :)

People of Istanbul

Here is little prince, he is celebration to turning out from boy to man, circumcision ceremony.

Turkish towel shop, this shop has making towels like...for ever :) You can use turkish towels also as a scarf or tableclothe or what ever, they are not like we are used to think towels are like in hotels. These are much much thinner, made of cotton or bamboo.

I was thinking are those tiny chairs and tables really Burger King's tables! No one didn't eat burger just drinking tea so maybe there was also some teashop or they really are Burger King's customer tables, who knows, that is Istanbul so let's do things like in Istanbul!

Traditional Turkish coffee making, at least I think so cause in that little booth in left side of the coffeemaker there was a text coffee!

Streets of Istanbul

Siinä yhtiössä vielä tiedetään mitä palvelu on, painettu menu jaettiin jokaiselle josta sai valita kahdesta pääruosta, kaiken maailman juomat, omat katselulaitteet jossa erilaisia elokuvia, sarjoja jne. jopa sanomalehdet kuuluivat lipun hintaan.

Hello, it has been a while but here we go again. I made a short trip to Istanbul with my friends, this was my first time there and have to say it is most interesting city. It is so different than most cities in Europe, mixture of east and west. This time I don't have so much super cute pictures as I have normal street life pictures around the city. We mostly walked all day and didn't go to see the sightseeing at least from inside. We just walked around, got happily lost and met interesting, friendly people. I didn't know how the people of Istanbul would react me taking pictures of them but I was very surprised how easy it was and most of the times I got eye contact but no one said a bad word so I guess they liked to been photographed or they just didn't care. Some of you might think these are not specially beautiful pictures and I agree but I think they are interesting real life documentary pictures and I did like shooting something else than I normally do.

Berlin

I went to Berlin with my friends to spend the New Year. I didn't shoot much, it was more like spending time together but when others started serious shopping tour I grabbed my camera.

Love letter to the World

I love you world.
Love your seven different faces.
Love your healing waters
wide and deep.
Love the thing you have
with the sun and the moon
and what it teaches us
about companionship,
about change, about revolution.

Love the mirror at your navel,
how it shows off your hemispheres,
illustrating important lessons
about balance,
about reflection,
about centering ourselves.

Love how much like little world we are.
How our earthquake is your shiver,
your sneeze a tsunami,
an avalanche, a mudslide.

When you have hot flashes
we call it drought.
You once covered your whole body
with ice to cool a fever.

When you weep,daily,
over our continued ignorance,
our epic failures and petty squabbles
-our every transgression,
your waters break and we are born again.

Love your outreach, our mutual attraction, your gravitation pull.

For every treasure we steal from your womb
you send us hail and thunderstorms.
When we invent poisons and no antidotes
and build monuments to ourselves
you send tornadoes and hurricanes
to remind us of how small we truly are.

And yet, every day you continue to humble,
inspire, and move us to tears
with your natural beauty.

Our own efforts to mimic your vistas
are what we dare call art and dance,
music and poetry,
architecture and language,
and love.
It is the only thing we have ever gotten right.

We can't pass the course on humanity
if we keep failing the lessons
on harmony
and until we unlearn fear and hate.

Thank you, world, for this
open-book exam before us,
for still believing
we are worthy of your love.

We who love you black already know
that everything we do to you
we also do to ourselves...

Live, love, laugh and we'll have Christmas around the year !

I think as you grow older your Christmas list gets shorter,
because the things you want can't be bought.
Live, love, laugh and we'll have Christmas around the year :)

Happy holidays my friends!

Oikein hyvää joulua ystävät!

Most beautiful things must be felt with the heart

The best and most beautiful things
in the world cannot be seen or even touched-
they must be felt with the heart.
